Ha Ha Tonka Hike + Winery

Where: 37 North Expeditions

When: Saturday, January 4th from 8 am- 5 pm

Cost: 55$

Start 2020 in the outdoors – taking in everything nature has to offer. We will start our day at Ha Ha Tonka, one of Missouri’s most beautiful State Parks. From dark caves, to castle ruins perched on a cliff, the park is the perfect place for the adventurous soul. Ha Ha Tonka brings together beautiful landscapes, geological wonderland, and history through its scattered oaks, prairie grasses, sinkholes, a natural bridge, a spring, and the ruins of the turn-of-the-century stone castle. Our hike will be a simple 4 miles that gains around 200’ in elevation.

After a hike that explores the many features of the park, we will visit Seven Springs Winery for some amazing locally made wine. This is the perfect way to end our day outside, enjoying the views over some amazing food, great wine, and fun company.

AS SEEN ON TRAVEL CHANNEL’S GHOST ADVENTURES
You better bring your game face for this one! This building is regarded by many as one of the most haunted locations in the entire Midwest and comes with an infamous reputation for being very active. It’s been featured on countless TV shows in the past including “Ghost Lab”, “The Haunted Collector”, and of course, “Ghost Adventures” and it’s always thrown up a lot of evidence on past investigations.
Built-in 1913 to act as a meeting hall for the secret society known as the Knights of Pythias, Pythian Castle has also had many other uses over its 100+ years of existence. It’s also served as an orphanage, a nursing home, and even a tuberculosis hospital during that time! In 1942 the military took over control of the property and they conducted interrogations of POW’s! Many veterans have stated in the past that some of the interrogations had “not so happy” endings.
For sure there is a dark presence within the walls of this foreboding building. Many lives have been lost over the years, believed to be in the hundreds with documented suicides and accidental deaths aplenty.
