Lauren Southard

Lauren may be one of our new architectural designers, but she fits in perfectly with her love for breakfast. Lauren loves impromptu baking sessions, creating and devouring breakfast foods, and rearranging her home in order to create the perfect cozy and eclectic spaces. (Yes, we all wish she would come and decorate our homes too.) She's fun to play games with too, she's referred to as the 'wild card'. Interesting fact: Lauren and her stepsister are 29 days apart...and both named Lauren.

More About Lauren

Lauren is a meticulous designer with a relaxed demeanor who has spent the last three years exploring the various facets of architecture in design though the profession of Architecture, Interior Design, and Landscape Design. Gaining experience in multiple disciplines has given her a foundational understanding of construction from multiple points of perspective. Diversifying her knowledge base of design problem solving is what gives her satisfaction and helps fuel her imagination. She is a Springfield native who graduated from Drury University, where she spent her time studying art history, urban design, and community placemaking. She is passionate about working with clients to explore the most comprehensive design strategies possible.

Lauren is passionate about adaptive reuse projects, or projects that take historical architectural elements and promote the vernacular of the past but modernize the function in order to maximize the efficiency of the space.

Lauren is most proud of her work with the Northside improvement initiatives like the Drew Lewis Foundation at the Fairbanks, and the Neighborhood Association of Grant Beech. Working with these organizations she was able to help develop a local daycare, produce market and social services that could be made available to a community in need. She assisted with the surveying, architectural design and renderings of a previously abandoned school building and her assistance helped turn a blighted property into a thriving community hub.
